Rural King is seeking an Outside Sales Consultant to support agricultural, outdoor, and household sales. This role builds customer relationships, assists with equipment sales and financing, manages special orders, and helps customers find the right solutions.

What You'll Do

Sales & Customer Experience

• Identify customer needs, applications, and budget to recommend appropriate solutions.
• Provide product information, demonstrations, financing assistance, and support throughout the sales process.
• Build customer relationships through knowledgeable service, follow-up, and issue resolution.
• Use upselling and cross-selling techniques to support sales goals and promote store offers and loyalty programs.
• Collect customer information when follow-up is needed for orders, product availability, or new merchandise.

Equipment & Store Support

• Provide product expertise across power equipment, mowers, log splitters, UTVs, fencing, 3-point equipment, and trailers.
• Manage power equipment store stock and customer special orders.
• Assist with receiving, moving, and displaying equipment.
• Maintain displays, signage, zoning, and merchandising according to company standards.
• Process sales, special orders, returns, and other transactions using POS and store systems.
• Help customers locate merchandise and recommend alternatives when needed.

Store & Team Support

• Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals and support store operations.
• Participate in cross-training and required training.
• Provide professional support to customers and associates.
• Demonstrate Rural King’s values and perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; agriculture-related education or certifications preferred.
• Previous sales, customer service, or retail experience preferred.
• Strong communication, active listening, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build customer relationships, identify needs, and recommend solutions.
• Results-driven with the ability to work toward sales goals.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use POS, inventory systems, and retail technology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong initiative, professionalism, integrity, and adaptability.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull 30 pounds repetitively and 31–50 pounds intermittently.
• Ability to use ladders and pallet jacks.
• Ability to navigate and access all areas of the store and related facilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and associates.
• Close vision required for computer-related activities.

Compensation

Exact compensation determined by factors such as geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs. Eligible associates may also receive overtime pay in compliance with applicable laws.
