What You’ll do

As a Truck Shop Manager, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating all activities and personnel within the shop to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of all maintenance and repair work. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills, as well as the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and initiative.

  • Lead associates in a way that exemplifies the leadership principles taught in Rural King’s Thrive Leadership Program.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Actively participate in learning initiatives offered, such as training programs, workshops, and webinars. Leverage these opportunities to acquire new knowledge, refine existing skills, and stay current on the latest developments.
  • Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support to others, assisting with inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and effectively.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that exemplify Rural King’s Values: People First, Integrity, Attitude, Initiative, Teamwork, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign duties to all maintenance employees.
  • Prepare reports, track and log repairs, parts, and ensure warranty credits are realized.
  • Develops, implements, enforces, and maintains safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures to comply with all applicable laws and D.O.T. regulations.
  • Responsible for overall shop safety while ensuring proper training and the safe operation of equipment & tools.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the maintenance shop while ensuring inventory is secured, stored, and only accessible to the associates in accordance with the company guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Qualities for Success

  • At least five years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable navigating computer systems and software to assist customers or manage activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop associates, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas, instructions, and information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in time management, including the ability to effectively plan, schedule, and allocate resources to meet objectives.
  • Adaptable in response to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and evolving business needs.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for learning and personal growth, demonstrated through a track record of actively seeking opportunities for professional development.
  • Comfortable with taking calculated risks and accepting accountability for decision outcomes.
  • Ability to remain composed and focused during high-pressure situations, ensuring quality and timely outcomes.

Physical Requirements 

 

  • Ability to maintain a seated or standing position for extended durations.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently.
  • Ability to navigate and access all facilities.
  • Skill to effectively communicate verbally with others, both in-person and via electronic devices.
  • Close vision for computer-related activities.
