What You’ll Do

The EDI Coordinator supports Rural King’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) operations, ensuring the accurate, efficient, and secure exchange of business documents between Rural King and its trading partners. This role plays a vital part in maintaining data integrity across purchasing, invoicing, and logistics workflows, helping streamline vendor communications and optimize supply chain performance.

 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of collaborating with vendors, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable data flow across multiple systems, including Oracle ERP and connected integration platforms.

 

EDI Operations & Support

  • Monitor, manage, and validate daily EDI transactions, including purchase orders (850), invoices (810), acknowledgements (855/997), and advance shipping notices (856).
  • Proactively identify, research, and resolve EDI-related issues or transmission failures to minimize business impact.
  • Maintain transaction integrity across multiple trading partners and ensure data synchronization with Rural King’s ERP systems.
  • Track EDI performance metrics and communicate recurring issues or partner non-compliance to leadership.

Integration & Mapping

  • Develop, modify, and test EDI maps and translation logic using internal tools and industry standards (ANSI X12).
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to support system integrations between Oracle ERP, warehouse systems, and third-party platforms.
  • Support upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities related to EDI software, middleware, and integration tools.

Partner Onboarding & Compliance

  • Coordinate the onboarding of new trading partners, including setup, testing, and validation of EDI transactions.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of partner configurations, communication methods (AS2, SFTP, VAN), and contact records.
  • Enforce Rural King’s EDI compliance requirements and provide technical guidance to vendors during implementation.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Work with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Logistics, and IT teams to align EDI processes with business objectives.
  • Participate in process enhancement initiatives to improve automation, accuracy, and partner visibility.
  • Contribute to technology projects aimed at advancing Rural King’s supply chain and vendor collaboration capabilities.

Documentation & Training

  • Maintain detailed records of configurations, transaction logs, and partner communications.
  • Develop and update training materials for internal users and vendors on EDI processes and best practices.
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews by providing transaction histories and configuration data.

Essential Qualities for Success

 

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information systems, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 2+ years of hands-on EDI experience, ideally within a retail, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with ANSI X12 transaction sets (850, 855, 856, 810, 812, 824, 997, etc.).
  • Experience with EDI mapping, communication protocols (AS2, SFTP, VAN), and ERP integration—Oracle ERP experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general data management tools.

Preferred

  • Experience with XML or API-based integrations and middleware platforms.
  • Familiarity with retail supply chain workflows, including purchasing, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Prior involvement in vendor enablement or EDI compliance programs.

The pay range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000 annualized and is bonus eligible. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as relevant geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs.
