The purpose of the Controller is to maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

 

What You'll Do

  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by managing audits and being the strategic liaison to our external auditors.
  • Keep open lines of communication with the leadership team on tax and GAAP changes.
  • Question and analyze all signification changes or swings in sales, margin, expenses, etc. as soon as they are observed with the team.
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance in preparing budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans and supporting process improvement.
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance to prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Lead associates in a way that exemplifies the leadership principles taught in Rural King’s Thrive Leadership Program.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties.

  • At least 20 years of financial reporting/accounting experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

The pay range for this position is $110,000 - $150,000 annualized and is bonus eligible. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as relevant geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs.
