What You’ll do

As a Transportation Maintenance I, you will maintain trailer equipment operation by completing inspections, determining preventive maintenance requirements, determining truck deficiencies, and keeping records.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Demonstrate behaviors that exemplify Rural King’s Values: People First, Integrity, Attitude, Initiative, Teamwork, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ensures equipment availability by completing preventative maintenance schedules and installing component and part upgrades.
  • Complete dry service on equipment including lubrication of components, fluid checks, and inspection of all hoses and belts.
  • Complete wet service on equipment including refilling fluids (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield fluid, etc.)
  • Inspect, service, and replace trailer parts, including tire checks.
  • Maintain hub and axles and adjust or replace when required.
  • Service and repair the brake, electrical, and hydraulic system.
  • Ensure that equipment meets the U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.
  • Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report all findings to management.
  • Have a sound understanding of repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are met within the shop.
  • May be required to cross-train and perform other duties.

Essential Qualities for Success

 

  • At least 1 year of trailer mechanic experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn TMW and diagnostic software.
  • Comfortable navigating computer systems and software to assist customers or manage activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively listen, ask relevant questions, and provide thorough and articulate responses.

Physical Requirements

 

  • Ability to maintain a seated or standing position for extended durations.
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds periodically.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently.
  • Ability to navigate and access all facilities.
  • Skill to effectively communicate verbally with others, both in-person and via electronic devices.
  • Close vision for computer-related activities.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.25 per hour, with exact compensation determined by factors such as relevant geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs. Eligible associates may also receive overtime pay in compliance with applicable laws.
