A loader is responsible for timely, accurate and safe loading / transporting of product on to our outbound trailers.
 

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the transportation coordinator is to direct and coordinate drivers by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of our private fleet. This position will plan freight from our Distribution Centers as well as outside freight by creating a daily run list ensuring all freight is delivered timely, efficiently, safely and in the most cost-effective way possible.

 

 

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for efficient and cost-effective scheduling of deliveries and routing of Rural King trucks
  • Communicate daily plan clearly to the driver team as well as our stores and other customers
  • Schedule pickups of returned materials from the stores
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Manager any driver issues to create a plan for load recovery
  • Seek outside line hauls from vendors or carriers to eliminate driving with empty miles and to build on the profitability or Rural King Transportation 
  • Provide customer service and satisfaction to our stores
  • Ensure that all DOT regulations are followed 
  • Monitor driver performance and discipline 
  • Partner with Safety and HR to preform driver coaching's and other safety and HR communications to our fleet 
  • Partner with Truck Shop Management ensure our equipment is safe and DOT compliant and driver maintenance issues are resolved. 
  • Oversee on call responsibilities to ensure driver issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of transportation experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn TMW and Peoplenet systems.
  • Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of Department of Transportation rules and regulations preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department across facilities.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate effectively with others (in-person and via electronic devices).
  • Must have close visual acuity.
